Frequently Asked Questions

  • Insulating Window Covers

    • What makes your window covers different than other companies’ products?
      • Unlike many competitors that use thin insulation layers, our curtains are made with extra dense insulation that creates a thick barrier between your van’s interior and the outside world. Our curtains are also made by hand in the USA and are made with the strictest quality standards to give you the highest quality product.
    • Will they work year-round?
      • YES! Our insulated window covers are designed to work year-round in both hot and cold conditions!  We have customers using our window covers for extreme tundra tours in Iceland and in the hottest canyons in Death Valley, CA.
    • How are they mounted/stay up?
      • Each window cover is different depending on the window it covers and the van it is designed for. Windshields with reflective backings are supported with the van’s sun visors and additional magnets in 2019+ Sprinter models.  Side/rear windows use a combination of sewn-in magnets in the bindings and magnet pouches – all with extra-strong rare earth magnets to latch onto metallic surfaces.
    • What if my van doesn’t have exposed metal around the window(s)?
      • For vans that have paneling around the window or windows without exposed metal – each window includes mounting plates with vehicle grade adhesive and instructions to provide a metallic surface to latch onto. If you have window trim/no exposed metal, please reach out to us at: AdventureVanCo@gmail.com
    • What materials do we use in our window covers?
      • Our window covers are made from premium UV-resistant, polyester blended fabrics along with high quality synthetic insulation used in insulating garments. Think of our window covers as premium puffy jackets for your windows!  Our windshields have an additional layer of premium reflectix to provide extra heat resistance in your cockpit area.
    • How do I know if the window will work in my van?
      • Each window is specifically cut to fit the factory stamp out area for each make/model/window area. For example, our 2007+ Sprinter Slider Door will cover the entire factory stamp out area, meaning it will cover stock windows in crew/passenger vans and aftermarket windows that fit in that area as long as there is exposed metal for the magnets to latch onto.
    • How do the Curtain Tie Kits work?
      • Each curtain tie kit comes with 4 extra magnets and 2 curtain ties. The extra magnets are added to the top row of magnet pouches to allow the weight of the curtain to hang from the top edge.  The ties are placed over the top edge of the curtain and allow you to roll up the curtain and tie around it.  One tie kit will work for any side window or BOTH rear back door curtains.
    • My vehicle isn’t on your website, can you cover it?
      • Unfortunately, we are only covering the vehicles listed on our website at this time.
    • Do we do custom work?
      • In specific situations, yes. We are always willing to take a look but unless we are confident we can make it work on the first try, we won’t take on the project.  Simple shapes with rectangular corners and symmetrical designs are much easier the curves/multiple angles.  If you have a custom window/shape, please email it to us at AdventureVanCo@gmail.com with pictures and measurements and we will see if we can get it made.
    • How do I clean them?
      • Simply apply cold water and light detergent to spot treat affected areas and air dry. Do NOT machine wash or use the dryer!
    • How do I store them when not in use?
      • Most windows work with our Curtain Tie Kit and allow the curtain to be rolled up and tied at the top edge of each window. Additionally, the side/rear window curtains can be folded up to the top edge by latching the bottom edge magnets to the top edge.  All window covers are able to be rolled up like blankets/sleeping bags or laid flat when underway.  The windshield piece can be rolled or gently folded when not in use.
    • What is the warranty?
      • We offer a 2-year limited warranty that covers any manufacturer defect in construction that causes the product to not work properly within normal use.  Please consult our Warranty & Returns page for more details.
    • I ordered the wrong curtain; can I exchange it?
      • Window covers can be returned within 60 days as long as they are in new-like condition with all original parts. Please consult our Warranty & Returns page for more details.
  • L-Track Accessories

    • How do I know which fork mount to get?
      • Typically all bikes fall under two categories: thru axle and quick release forks. Thru axles have a fully removable axle that is threaded between the forks and the wheel to secure it whereas the quick release axle is fixed to the front wheel.  The quick release forks rest on the wheel axle and are tightened by a nut/lever to secure.  Each axle comes in different width which is the distance between each fork.  Please consult your bike’s specs/user manual for measurements.
    • What is the difference between straight and perpendicular plates?
      • The straight/perpendicular plates refer to the orientation of the handlebars in relation to the direction of the L-track when mounted. For example, a straight plate will have the handlebars parallel with the L-track whereas the perpendicular plate has the handles bars crossing with the direction of the L-track.  Please take note if you are planning to twist your handlebars as that might influence which plate to get.
    • What comes with each mount?
      • Each mount comes with the selected fork mount, the selected mounting plate, stainless steel mounting hardware, and 2 L-track studs with quick release handles. Adjustable thru axle mounts will also include spacers to accommodate the different widths indicated in the product name.

    • How do the hood mounted solar panels stay on?
      • Our hood mounted solar panels are permanently fixed to the hood of your van via vehicle grade VHB tape, adhesive primer, and protective vinyl sheets. Wiring is secured with included zip ties and the controller should be mounted under the hood per the included instruction.  Please refer to our instructional video for details!
    • Do you do custom switches?
      • Each custom design has a $50 set-up fee before the cost of each LED switch.  All designs should be simple and fit a 19mm diameter circle.  Custom switches usually take 2-3 weeks depending on switch inventory.  Please email us at AdventureVanCo@gmail.com for inquiries.
